This is a Waltham 1883 model. It is an 18 size movement, 15 jewels.
Note the old English style tangential lever escapement.
The early American watch designs relied heavily on English watch making. It wasn't long before these designs shifted to incorporate Swiss innovation, as well as home grown inventions.
