Elgintime Vintage Horological: Elgin Grade 454

This is the Elgin grade 454, 16 size, 21 jewel, railroad grade pocketwatch, made about 1919.

A typical railroad grade watch will be open-face, like this, with Arabic numerals and heavy hands so as to be easy to read at a glance. This dial also has the 60 minutes marked with red every 5 minutes.
