Here are a few "before" images showing a typical mixture of oil all over, and oil mixing in with debris to form an abrasive grit about pivots.

Note the unusual hour hand on this movement. Very rare...

 The reason for the unique hand is that this is a "demi-hunter" case, also sometimes called a semi-hunter, or half-hunter.

There is a second crystal in the inner part of the cover. The time can be read without opening the front. The extra spade on the short hand shows through to mark the hour.

Nice!

These are not at all common among American watches. This is the only one like this that I have handled.

New Arrival

This is what's usually called a "demi-hunter" case. It is like a hunter case in that is has a front cover, but the cover includes a small window making it possible to see the time without opening it. This style of case is fairly uncommon with American watches, especially with one as big as this one - it is a size 16 Elgin.
