Elgintime Vintage Horological: Elgin Grade 318

Elgin's grade 318 is a small, 0 size, 15 jewel, movement.

This one, made about 1905, is in a hunter case with a broken off and missing cover. The thicker open face type of crystal has been installed to made the watch usable.

I have seen two or three watches like this over the years.
