Elgintime Vintage Horological: Elgin Grade 478

The grade 478 is a high grade 16 size, 21 jewel, movement. It is lever-set.

This one is in a gold case fitting with lugs, to allow the the use of a wrist strap! This makes for a huge watch, even by today's tastes.

The movement was made about 1926. It's really hard to say what the story is with this one.
