This is a 16 size watch, making it quite practical to carry with modern clothing styles. People seem to like large, heavy watches (18 size), but these were never intended for pants pockets. They'll wear holes in pockets, and they get banged on things and end up with broken crystals and broken balance staffs. I see this all the time.
When I'm asked about vintage pocketwatches I'd suggest for daily use, the 16 size Elgins always comes to mind. The grade 313 is a solid workhorse.

I recently acquired a grade 313 watch that belonged to my great uncle, who was a farmer by trade. My father said my gr. Uncle always carried it in the front pocket of his bib overalls. The watch was not running and had no crystal. I'm happy to report that the watch has been cleaned oiled and fully restored. The watch keeps perfect time. It,s amazing that something made 100 years ago looks and runs as if brand new forget the plastic watches of today - these are crafted by the masters.
