Note the gold-flashed screws and regulator, all intact!

Elgin Grade 261

Here's a Google auto-awesome image of an Elgin grade 261 pocketwatch.

This model is a 16 size, 7 jewel movement.

New Elgin Watches

Every now and then, I get an email about modern Elgin watches.

The Elgin company went completely out of business in 1968.  Since then the name has been owned and used by a variety of companies that have made clocks and watch.  These products have nothing to do with the original company however, and I can't help with them as I specialize in American antiques.

Today the Elgin name is owed by a Chinese company, MZ Berger Inc.  They seem to sell a lot of products through Walmart.

Elgin Grade 96

Here's an Elgin grade 96.  It's an 18 size, 7 jewel, lever-set movement, this one made about 1897.

Elgin Grade 309

The Elgin grade 309 is an older 18 size movement, with 7 jewels.  This example was made about 1907.

Elgn Grade 367

Here's a fine example of a grade 367 Elgin movement.  This is a rather rare 18 size, 21 jewel, lever-set, Father Time model, this one made about 1910.

This is a true railroad watch.

Elgin Grade 381

Here's an Elgin  pocketwatch, grade 381.  It's a 16 size, 17 jewel movement featuring the ever popular 3 fingered bridge design.

This example was made about 1917.
