Elgin Grade 232

This is a nice example of Elgin's grade 232, a 12 size movement, 7 jewels, made about 1902.

I am sometimes asked about this style of hands. It appears that the minute and hour hand do not match.

However this is a common style used by Elgin National and other watch companies called "spade and whip". Although there are spade minutes hands too, this configuration was popular and widely used.
