Elgin Grade 336, with Burs in the Plate

This 18 size Elgin, grade 336, shows a pretty common "fix".  There are burs raised, with the point of a graver, on the plate under the balance cock to raise it slightly.  This is not always a *terrible* kludge, but it is often done to make up for a different problem that really should have been properly fixed.

This movement was made about 1919.
